Join us on April 2 from 12:00PM to 1:30PM, or 6PM to 7:30PM for a personal mini demonstration. Please call to RSVP today!
It’s been featured on national television shows such as Rachael Ray, The View and The Doctors. It’s been touted by big-name beauty editors from Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, Shape and more…
It’s Ultherapy, a non-surgical face and neck treatment that uses ultrasound to actually lift and tone loose skin -- on the brow, on the neck and under the chin -- without any downtime. Here at Burnett Plastic Surgery in Westfield, it is one of our specialties. Please check out our Ultherapy Before & After pictures.
Ultherapy Uses Ultrasound? That’s right! Ultherapy is the only cosmetic procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows us to actually see the layers of tissue we target during the treatment, to ensure that the energy is delivered precisely to where it will be most effective.
Leveraging this tried-and-true technology, we can specifically target the deep foundation below the skin – the one typically addressed in cosmetic surgery – without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. That means after a 90-minute non-invasive treatment, you’ll be able to return to your everyday life without interruptions…and, without hiding behind those “post-treatment” glasses or scarves.
Ultherapy Creates Collagen and Elastin Naturally. Ultherapy is so unique because it refreshes your collagen by jumpstarting a repair process. It relies on the body’s own regenerative process to stimulate the natural creation of new collagen and elastin – yes, new collagen and elastin. This results in an actual lift of skin overtime – and just better-fitting skin.
Many people notice an immediate effect following the treatment, but the ultimate lifting and toning takes place over 2-3 months, as tired collagen is replaced with new, stronger collagen. And, as this collagen-building process continues, further improvements can even appear up to 6 months following a procedure!
Ultherapy – an Uplift not a Facelift. Ultherapy is a non-surgical option for people with mild to moderate skin laxity – those who want some lifting for skin that has lost elasticity, but are not ready for surgery, either mentally, financially or logistically. It’s also a great option for those who want to “stay ahead of the game” as well as those looking to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery.
Ultherapy may cause some discomfort while the energy is being delivered, but it is temporary and a positive signal that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Of course, we offer a number of options to help make your Ultherapy treatment as comfortable as possible. Our patients who’ve had Ultherapy typically leave comfortable and excited about the benefits to come!
If you’re looking for a lift to counter the effects that gravity takes over time, it may be just the treatment you’ve been waiting for. Please join us on April 2, in the afternoon or evening!

Breaking news.....Last week FDA announced changes for labeling of sunscreen products. The final rule will take effect on the summer of 2012, but consumers may begin to see changes to sunscreen labels before the effective date. For complete information on this topic and future changes check the FDA website: http://www.fda.gov/Drugs/ResourcesForYou/consumers
There is so much information and confusion about how much SPF is sufficient sun protection and what products actually work. We are presented with countless articles, news updates and programs regarding this most important topic. But who do we believe and when do we stop wasting our valuable time and money on products that don't work.
Let's begin with the facts:
- Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States.
- Melanoma is the most common form of cancer for young adults 25-29 years old and second most common form of cancer in the 19-29 year old age group.
- SPF is "sun protection factor" found in sun protection products and measures how much it shields us from the sun.
- UVB rays, ultraviolet light B, causes the skin to burn and is the main cause of skin cancer. ( B for B'urning)
- UVA rays, ultraviolet light A, are the rays that damage the skin's collagen and elastin needed to keep the skin looking young. ( A for A'ging)
Obagi's new sun shield, Nu-derm SPF 50 is a great product that is for everyday use and you can be rest assured that it will protect your skin. It contains micro-fine zinc oxide for a sheer, matte finish without the white residue. It is for use for all ages over the age of 6 months. Oh, and by the way, Self magazine voted Obagi's new sun shield SPF 50 the best sunscreen for face in the 50+ category.
So let your radiance shine through with the ultimate in skin protection and call us today for more info and always remember that here at Burnett Plastic Surgery, we care about you and your skin!

The sun shines all year long, so why shouldn't we protect ourselves all year?? Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?? Unfortunately, we associate sunburn and sun damage from the heat of the sun. Although the sun's heat is not as intense during winter months due to the angle of the sunlight, the ultraviolet A and B rays are still strong enough to cause damage. It does not have to be a bright and sunny day either, so we still need sun protection on cloudy and hazy days.
So how do we protect ourselves, when there's "no where to run to, nowhere to hide??!!" The following is what the CDC recommends:
- Seek shade when possible, especially during midday hours.
- Wear clothing to protect exposed skin.
- Wear a wide-brimmed hat to shade the face, neck, head and ears.
- Wear sunglasses ( preferably ones that wrap around much of the face)
- Use sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher and block both UVA and UVB rays. Re-apply every 2 hours and more often if sunbathing or perspiring
Some of these measures may seem a bit drastic and unrealistic at times, however, using sunscreen is a simple, effective way to prevent damage from the sun all year round. Make it part of your daily beauty regimen. Apply after your facial cleansing and moisturizing, then apply your sunscreen...it's easy, quick and simple!
There are many effective products on the market. Some protect against sun damage better than others...We recommend, Obagi's Nu-Derm sun shield SPF 50. It provides both UVA and UVB protection. it has a clear, matte finish and leaves no residue. It's also been voted #1 sunblock for faces by Self Magazine!
So stock up on your Obagi sun shield now while we still have our 20% off summer special.
As many of you know, we have been a committed provider of Obagi Medical Products for over fifteen years. We have been very satisfied with its results as it addressed most of our patients' skin care needs, with the Nuderm, CR-X and Clenziderm lines.
However, with the evolving anti-aging industry, exciting and innovative skin care products are now available and we wanted to be a part of this movement without compromising our philosophy of bringing the latest in skin-care technology to you our patients.
After much soul searching, we have decided to phase out the Obagi product line as we move on to the SkinMedica line of products. (www.skinmedica.com) an Allergan company.
SkinMedica has a wider variety of products, that we believe will give our patients more flexibility and choice of products that will further enhance their skin care needs. We are excited about the award winning TNS Essential Serum, a combination of growth factors and corrective complex, Lytera, a non-hydroquinone skin brightening complex which addresses brown spots and the Tri Retinol complex which contains three forms of Vitamin A. SkinMedica is also part of the Allergan Brilliant Distinctions Points Program, where points are earned with each purchase, the points can then be used for discounts on Allergan products: Botox, Juvederm, Latisse and SkinMedica.
We are having a closeout sale of 50% off on all remaining Obagi products (except the Pro-C Serum) for those of you who would like to finish what you have. Please call for available products as they are going fast. The Pro C is currently a special offer at 20% off through Jan 6th, 2014.
We believe you will love this product line as much as we do and your transition will be simple. Please allow us to continue to take care of your skin as we introduce a new era of skin care at Burnett Plastic Surgery.
Please call us at 908 838 7688 to schedule a consultation or to discuss your skin care options.
One morning I woke up and my face was going South. Dr. Burnett and the staff decided to do a YouTube film demonstrating the application of Sculptra. Dr. Burnett's gentle manner and his commitment to having the patient experience no pain was very evident that day. The results have been fabulous. It is a gradual process that regenerates the production of your own Collagen. Everyone comments on how good I look. I recommend this treatment to anyone who is looking to avoid surgery. The "Liquid Facelift" is for you. I look 10 years younger. I will be 63 in October!!
It all depends.............here are a few points on what makes the difference between liposuction and a tummy tuck. Ultimately we need to talk about it!
The formation of scars are a normal process of wound healing. They occur when there is any event which causes a disruption of the skin tissue. Some examples are cuts, abrasions, surgery, pressure ulcers, dog bites, to name a few. There are factors which can affect scar healing such as the size and depth of the wound, age, skin color, length of time it takes for the skin to heal and genetics.
The appearance of scars usually improves over time. They tend to be red and thick at first and fade slowly over months and can occur up to 18 months. Some scars may become hypertrophic, which are more raised. Some people are more prone to keloid formation which tend to develop more than 3 months after the initial injury. Keloid scarring is more prevalent in darker skin and may be associated with pain and itching.
To help minimize the appearance of scars, there is now a medical grade product that flattens, smoothes and fades scars. NewGel silicone sheets and NewGel + E silicone gel, has been clinically tested to provide greater overall improvements of scars.
The silicone sheets work by a combination of occlusion, hydration, elevated skin temperature and continuous light pressure. All these factors positively affect the rate and outcome of the healing process. The silicone gel form works by creating a protective barrier with the ideal environment to manage and reduce scars. It also provides hydration and occlusion. The gel is enhanced with 1% vitamin E to increase the softening and moisturizing effect.
One can begin using these products when the scar is closed and/or sutures are removed. Positive results are seen in as little as 3-7 weeks and continued improvement can occur up to 6 months. It's easy to use and there are many shapes and sizes of the silicone sheets for a variety of applications. Why suffer with the unsightly appearance of a scar...use NewGel today.
