The New Age Of Anti-Aging
Sculptra is the “new age of anti-age”. Unlike other cosmetic injectables, this procedure actually replaces collagen which naturally diminishes with time. Here is an overview of this exciting product. It is often referred to as the liquid facelift.
What is Sculptra?
Sculptra, or poly-L-lactic acid, PLLA, is injected into facial areas where fat has been lost. It treats volume loss associated with normal aging by stimulating the body to rebuild collagen. It was originally only approved for patients with HIV-related lipoatrophy, depletion of fat loss. PLLA has been used for many years in dissolvable sutures and medical implants, and has been used cosmetically in Europe since 1999.
How does Sculptra Work?
Sculptra targets the underlying causes of the signs of facial aging. It works with the deep dermal layer to replace lost collagen. As it gradually replaces collagen it restores the look of fullness by providing a foundation and correcting the deep facial folds and wrinkles.
How long before results are seen and how many treatments are needed?
An average of 3 sessions are needed over several months. Remember that Sculptra GRADUALLY replaces collagen. So it is a subtle more natural anti-wrinkles process that doesn’t make you immediately look like you have had something done.
How long does it last?
Sculptra creates results that will last up to 2 years.
